Tonski’s journey into the world of electronic music began at just 15 years old, spinning dance tracks with a pair of second-hand decks. Inspired by pioneers like Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Moby, BBE, Faithless, Green Velvet, Depeche Mode, and local trance and house DJs, he quickly honed his craft. While early gigs required him to play chart and Top 40 hits, these residencies helped Tonski build an impressive collection of classic dance vinyl and refine his skills behind the decks.

 

His growing reputation as a skilled club DJ earned him a spot at the renowned “Porsche” nightclub in Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, he connected with Belgian DJs DJ Yves and DJ MD, both established names in the house scene and affiliated with the iconic Bonzaï Records label. These collaborations helped Tonski elevate his mixing style to a more polished and sophisticated sound. He gained invaluable experience accompanying DJ MD to major events, including during MD’s golden record success with “Rio” (Porsche Records/Diki Records). With guidance from Aldo Verbeek, a professional sound engineer and producer, Tonski also began to sharpen his studio production skills.

 

Tonski’s career took off when he secured a residency with Star Events, organizers of prominent parties such as Dance Opera and Cyber Active. During this time, he released his first vinyl under the moniker “Steve Shadow” on Zenith Records, a sublabel of Diki Records. He also began warming up for DJ MD at the Belgian Q-Pit club before taking over as the main resident DJ at another nightclub.

 

From there, Tonski’s reputation grew, leading to residencies at celebrated venues including Pacha (Belgium), Boccaccio Beach, Coolgate, Fresh Club, and Acanthus Club, Europe’s largest erotic dance club. He also performed as a guest DJ at iconic clubs such as La Bush, La Rocca, Revolution, Cirao, Bocca, Decadance, and Beachland.

 

Tonski has shared the stage with global talents like Bob Sinclar, Regi, DJ Jean, 100% Isis, Airwave, Mr. Sam, Dave Swayze, Phi-Phi, Michael Forzza, and Dennis Cartier. His tracks have gained support from industry leaders such as Morgan Page, Danni Avila, JES, Jaydee, Ivan Cough (TV Rock), Guru Project, Lost Witness, DJ HS, and more.

 

Between 2008 and 2017, Tonski expanded his work as a producer, teaming up with his brother Jürgen (JMA) to form the project “Tonski & JMA.” Together, they delved deeper into music production, refining their skills with Cubase lessons. The duo released music under various pseudonyms on notable labels such as Universal Music TV, Babaorum Records, Wagram France, Zenith Records, Zyx Music, Bonzai, Zounds, Axma, Intonenation (Blackhole Records), Diki Records, and Judi Records. Several of their releases charted, including on the Belgian Ultratop Dance chart, Beatport Top 100, and Kings of Spins (USA).

 

In 2017, JMA decided to step away from music, bringing the “Tonski & JMA” project to an end. However, Tonski continued to pursue his passion independently, evolving his sound while staying true to his roots.

 

Tonski refuses to be confined to a single genre, preferring to craft DJ sets that tell a story. His unique blend of house genres captivates audiences and consistently fills dancefloors with energy and atmosphere.
